Eternal Life
I’ve reached the conclusion that I need to live forever if I want to do all the plans that are playing through my head. Even if I would win the jackpot today, and live to be 187 years old, I’d still have not enough time. Thanks to the internet I am no longer dependent on the (usually) very limited assortment of the local needlework stores. This is great, naturally, but because of all of the information I get this way, my head is overflowing with ideas. And now I’m not just talking about the hundreds of ready made designs that I want to put on my to-do list. But I’m especially talking about the thousands of small patterns available on websites and blogs from all over the world. Especially the antique patterns inspire me to make my own samplers.

So let the finding of this blog to the idea to incorporate the Russian patterns into a band sampler in the colors of the Saint Basil’s Cathedral from the Red Square from Moscow. And from the same blog, I think the French patterns would do very well in “old” colors like Lavender, Olive green and Terra Cotta. And the many flower patterns on my aunts attic blog tempt me into stitching some of the prettiest together in 1 sampler, using various variegated silk threads.

Or what to think of the Stitch of the Month pages from the American Needlepoint Society? Here I have two different ideas. I either stitch the summary December projects on very fine gauche, or I make a sampler for each year, with the December projects as central focal point, and around that I’ll experiment with the various stitches. Or after seeing a pattern of a house in Hedebo technique, that picture evolves into three pictures: the original house, the same house in blackwork and again that self same house but this time in Ajour technique. And I can continue like this for hours!

But where do I find the time?

Meanwhile, I've finished my second christmas ornament. Well, one side of it, and it's bigger than I expected it to be! Pattern from "The Gift of Stitching" November 2008, with main threads two Dinky Dye silk colors.
