Started with EvenstarTime is flying again. The autumn break is nearly finished, and the needlework fair is already a week ago. We have seen a lot of very pretty things, and the temptation to buy new patterns and materials was present at at least half of the stands. Therefore I’m very proud that I only bought two patterns (Alpine Garden and An Open Heart from The Drawn Thread Company), even though there were no patterns on my shopping list. However, there were a few things on my list that I didn’t buy, so that’s okay.

My main goal for going to the fair was to buy lace weight threads for two scarves I want to knit, and I succeeded. For the Aeolian stole I bought pale green Kidsilk Haze from Rowan, and for the Evenstar I ended up buying Angel lace in the color wisteria from The Natural Dye Company. Back at home I discovered I bought the 1 ply version of Angel lace, which actually is a cobweb weight (of course I have to make it even more difficult than necessary). Unfortunately I haven’t been able to buy beads at the fair, so I can’t start the Aeolian yet. But I could start the Evenstar. Here’s the results after the first pattern.

Castles in the Air

Castles in the Air
I’m trying to catch up. Part 11 is finished, but part 15 is already available. I want to try to finish all parts before part 16 is released (isn't going to happen). Me running behind is actually a good thing for a change, because with part 9 I have made the cutwork band one stitch too many to the right, and I’m not sure anymore whether I kept the urn equal to the cutwork band, or back at it’s rightful place. The advantage of running behind is, that you don’t have to stick to the original order. At the same time I now know that the error will become abundantly clear when I’m on stitch off in the fence. So now I’m working the complete bottom edge (part 13,14 and 15) and after that I’ll make part 12 (which is going to connect to the urn underneath the erroneous cutwork band). It’s cheating a little, but no-one will see it when it’s finished

My boys are satisfied
There rooms are finished. There’s still some materials lingering here and there, and my eldest is still awaiting his new curtains (and for his mummy to clear off), but apart from that their rooms are finished. When we have some time, I’ll take them into town, where they can pick up a poster for on the wall, and after that, it’s up
to them to keep their rooms looking good and tidy. But, fingers crossed, I think they’ve figured that out already: they have already played in their rooms a number of times, and it’s still not looking like a bombsite!
